Each year we have an Annual General Meeting to elect the new executive and have some fun. The positions available are Federal President, Provincial President, Vice President, External Affairs, Internal Affairs, Financial Director and Special Events Director. I encourage you all to run for a position and bring your friends. There will be pizza snack an pop at this event. The Liberal Express in Thornhill

Michael Ignatieff and the Liberal Express arrived at York Hill District Park in Thornhill July 29th; and the Thornhill Young Liberals were there to volunteer and help with the event.

Both Michael Ignatieff and Dr Karen Mock spoke at the event; promoting pluralism, diversity, and Liberal values in 21st-century Canada. Both youth and adults engaged in discussion with the Federal Liberal Leader, conversing about issues important to the community.

Overall, the event was a great success; we’ll see all of you at the next one!

The Thornhill Young Liberals’ AGM was a huge success. We had an incredible turnout with several important guests, including Karen Mock, the Federal Liberal candidate for the riding of Thornhill. We saw that day the culmination of one years’ work which have made the TYL into a great organisation; through the respective Federal and Provincial Presidencies of Jonathan Speigel and Maria Bun, we have witnessed the Thornhill Young Liberals grow and mature into one of the most productive and amazing Young Liberals associations in Canada. We had to say some sad goodbyes to Maria Bun, and to Alex Rascanu; two great members of our organisation who have been absolutely extraordinary this past year. But we also saw new appointments; with Denizhan Uykur being elected unanimously as the new Provincial President, and Jamil Dhanani also unanimously elected as the new incoming External Affairs director.

As Young Liberals, we will continue strive to promote Liberal values, and we hope to see a future for Canada which is bright; to continue the Canadian tradition of setting an example for the rest of the world. We hope to continue to do this in the following year with our new executive!

Liberal Express BBQ with Michael Ignatieff in Thornhill

As you may know, Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff officially embarked on the cross-country Liberal Express summer tour on July 13th to showcase the Liberal Party as the clear alternative to the Harper Conservatives. After the Parliament Hill launch, Mr. Ignatieff, the Liberal Team, and members of the media climbed aboard the Liberal Express bus for a swing through Eastern Ontario, starting what will be a jam-packed summer itinerary of whistle stops, town halls and backyard BBQs – including one in our very own riding of Thornhill!

Join us in welcoming the Liberal Bus when it makes it stop in Thornhill! Come meet Michael Ignatieff and Liberal Caucus Members. So bring your friends and family for a fun-filled day of live entertainment, free food, face painting and more.

The Thornhill Young Liberals are calling their AGM on Sunday, June 27th 2010. It will take place at Dufferin and Clarke Community Centre Lobby at 5pm. If it is nice we will have the AGM outside. Every position is up for re-election. Only members signed up with the Thornhill Young Liberals can vote in this election.
